Queenstown local of 12 years, Stevie-Rae Burt spent her early years on the Otago Peninsula soaking up the tattoo culture of the 90's with her father Greg Burt, one of the early pioneers of New Zealand tattooing.
Greg learnt under Steve Johnson who is well known as a tattooing legend here in little New Zealand.
Stevie-Rae's father, formally a tool maker/precision engineer by trade, had an early fascination for tattooing, which led him to switch crafts and take on a professional approach to the intricate art form. His eye for detail and passion for the craft has created a name for himself in the industry for bringing incredible work to the table for the last 30 years and counting.
Stevie-Rae's own journey in to the professional world of tattooing started nearly four years ago, when an opportunity to apprentice under her father Greg became available at his studio here in Queenstown.
She made the move from the coast to the mountains back in 2006 and has been enjoying the diversity that Queenstown has to offer.
Stevie-Rae has developed a very strict and old school approach to the art form and with the guidance of her father her skill set has continued to grow.
She has a strong drive to constantly improve herself and her work and this shows.
